EaglePicher Automotive Announces New Contracts for 4th Qtr 2003

INKSTER, Mich., Oct. 14 -- EaglePicher Automotive has announced several new and expanded projects for the 4th quarter of FY2003. EaglePicher Automotive's 4th quarter ends Nov. 3, 20030, 2003.

According to Fred Rheinlander, Hillsdale Division vice president of sales and product engineering, "Hillsdale Division recently won a $2.2 million incremental increase on a program for a Tier 1 manufacturer, for a total project value of $4.1 million. We have added assembly operations to a slip yoke damper manufacturing project already underway. This program allows us to leverage our NVH technology while incorporating value-added assembly, and moves us to Tier 1 supplier status on this project.

"We have also won several projects for a key Tier 1 supplier to a Big 3 automaker," Rheinlander said. Hillsdale Division redesigned a slip yoke damper to accommodate a change in the vehicle frame. "For this redesigned part on the MY2005 luxury SUV we were able to gain a $240,000 incremental increase in sales," he said.

Also in the fourth quarter, Hillsdale Division won three new flange programs for the same key Tier 1 supplier. "These contracts were awarded due to our ability to provide product solutions with globally competitive prices," Rheinlander said. "We are utilizing a variety of off-shore content suppliers to complement our proprietary technology and value-added operations in North America."

Rheinlander said the new flange programs for the quarter include:
   - A $2.4 million annual program supplying a MY2005 domestic SUV program
from the company's EPTEC, Mexico, facility.
   - Production of a CVjoint flange and companion flange (a total of nearly
$1 million annually) for a low volume MY2005 specialty vehicle. These
flanges will be produced at the company's Jonesville, Mich., facility.
