ZAP! Whiz-Bang! Scooter Makes You Happy

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Oct. 14, 2003 -- ZAP! Whiz-bang! That's the feeling you'll get when you try the latest scooter from ZAP (BULLETIN BOARD: ZAPZ) .

The Whiz-Bang scooter is a new breed of ZAP electric scooters from the company that pioneered the U.S. market in 1997. With a little more 'oomph' than its original ZAPPY scooter for the same money, the Northern California Company is stocking up for the holiday shopping season.

Founded in 1994, ZAP specializes in Zero Air Pollution technologies. After its IPO in 1996, the electric bicycle manufacturer scored international media coverage through a series of scooter stunts with the likes of Smashmouth, Letterman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Yahoo, McDonald's, Intel, WorldCom, Playboy, Skechers, Google, Kermit the Frog and more. The Company began diversifying its product line to include go-karts, mopeds, motorcycles, hovercraft, and this year electric cars. CEO Steve Schneider says ZAP is becoming the brand for this industry.

"ZAP is a portal for the widest range of advanced transportation technologies in the world," says Schneider. "As a pioneer in this industry, ZAP has the benefit of working with some of the best manufacturing partners in the world. The Whiz Bang is one of many new products we are planning to distribute through our ZAP dealer network."

The new ZAP Whiz Bang scooter is designed for adult riders looking for an inexpensive thrill-ride. This street surfer is powered by a 24-volt drive system, which uses electronic controls and a current response power-manager that helps optimize performance and battery life, enabling it to reach speeds 17 mph and distances of 10 miles per recharge for less than a dime worth of electricity.

The latest ZAP scooter is constructed of a lightweight steel tube frame with a high-impact ABS deck, 12" wheels, pneumatic tires for better handling, V-style front brakes and rear band brake, safety power cutoffs. It comes with a variable speed throttle, kickstand, built-in 110-volt household charger, and a tire pump to help maintain proper tire pressure.
