Dulles Greenway Surpasses $500,000 in Frequent Rider Program Checks to Customers
DULLES, Va., Oct. 13, 2003 -- The Dulles Greenway, the 14-mile privately owned toll road that extends from Dulles Airport to Leesburg, announced a new milestone for its VIP Miles frequent rider program. As of October 1, 2003, the Greenway has distributed over half a million dollars in VIP Miles bonus checks to its VIP Miles members.
The VIP Miles program began in the fall of 1998. Membership has grown steadily since the program's inception and continues to increase. Currently, there are more than 23,000 VIP Miles accounts. VIP Miles members can earn cash-back bonus checks depending on how frequently they travel on the Greenway over a 12-month period. Cash-back payouts range from five percent to 15 percent of paid toll expenses on the Greenway.
The only requirement for a patron to enroll into the program is having a Smart Tag transponder. Smart Tag is the electronic toll collection system used throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Smart Tag customers are not automatically enrolled into the program. All VIP Members initiate the enrollment process by registering via the Dulles Greenway Web site or by telephone.
Dulles Greenway CEO Michael Crane is enthusiastic about surpassing the $500,000 mark in bonus check payments to VIP customers. "When we started this program five years ago, never did I imagine that it would be this successful. Customer loyalty is so important to us, and the VIP Miles program is our way of thanking our customers."
VIP Miles is the only program of its kind in the Commonwealth.
