Leading European Automotive Aftermarket Retailer Increases Profitability by Improving Turns and Productivity with JDA Portfolio Applications

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--Oct. 9, 2003--

Successful Implementation of Portfolio Space Planning Enables Norauto to Optimize Shelf Space and Enhance Category Management

JDA(R) Software Group Inc. announced that Norauto, a leading European aftermarket retail and service company, has increased profitability by improving inventory turns and productivity using JDA Portfolio(R) Space Planning solutions. Having achieved this success in its Groupe Auto5 division, the leading auto parts retailer in Belgium, the company plans to implement JDA's Space Planning by Intactix(TM) and Intactix Knowledge Base(TM) to support all of its European subsidiaries.

"Our key business indicators clearly show an increase in revenue as a result of using the space planning capabilities of JDA's solutions to integrate merchandising between our purchasing center and stores," stated Jerome Ossart, Norauto's IT project director. "JDA's solutions play an essential role in our competitive strategy to help us enhance customer offerings and sell more by ensuring accuracy of product assortments on our stores' shelves and streamlining merchandising processes."

Norauto Uses JDA's Space Planning Dashboard for Shelf and Category Performance

According to Ossart, the company originally selected JDA's Space Planning solutions in 2001 because it provided a user-friendly, Windows-based environment and the flexibility of having a single dashboard to integrate and analyze internal and external data. Prior to JDA, Norauto was manually planning product selection and more than one-third of the planograms were not being implemented. As a result, the purchasing center was not in a position to measure merchandising profitability and performance.

"We've increased profitability by more efficiently building and managing planograms as well as simulating, analyzing and measuring shelf space performances. We have our merchandisers to thank for embracing the applications, maximizing space and micro-merchandising opportunities and, in turn, achieving these impressive results," commented Ossart.

Commenting on the successful implementation, Andrew Blatherwick, JDA's vice president, Europe, Middle East and Africa operations, stated, "As advancements in automotive technologies have resulted in better built cars, leading automotive aftermarket companies like Norauto succeed by operating a highly efficient network of strategically located stores, providing accurate merchandise assortments and meeting customers' expectations for same-day delivery. Using our best-of-breed functionality to measure performance and create action plans based on key performance indicators, Norauto is creating finely tuned store-specific shelf sets, optimizing assortment breadth to provide the variety that their customers demand and achieving fantastic bottom-line results."

Norauto plans to implement JDA's Space Planning solutions in its Spain and France subsidiaries by the end of the year.
