Dana Corporation Manager Earns Automotive Hall of Fame 2003 Young Leadership and Excellence Award

TOLEDO, Ohio, Oct. 7, 2003 -- Dana Corporation announced today that Mark Goodman, manager of the company's Columbia, Mo., axle manufacturing facility, has earned the Automotive Hall of Fame's 2003 Young Leadership and Excellence Award. Goodman will receive the award tonight, along with seven Hall of Fame inductees, at the Induction and Awards Night at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dearborn, Mich.

The Automotive Hall of Fame's Young Leadership and Excellence Award recognizes automotive industry professionals under 35 years of age who have demonstrated significant potential as future industry leaders.

"Mark has many qualities of a strong leader -- compassion for his employees, the ability to leverage workforce skills, and a passion for manufacturing excellence," said Bill Carroll, Dana's acting president and chief operating officer. "Mark has contributed to many successes in the Columbia plant, resulting in a safer, more productive work environment -- and ultimately helping Dana better serve its customers."

Goodman develops the facility's strategic plan and implements plant initiatives. He also is responsible for growing customer, employee, and community relationships. Goodman manages approximately 350 people.

Under Goodman's leadership, safety measurements have improved substantially, in line with company-wide gains. At the same time, the facility has reduced external quality defects by 50 percent and increased productivity by 13 percent. The Columbia facility manufactures light-vehicle axles for Dana's Automotive Systems Group.

"I attribute the success of the Columbia plant to our team's passion for excellence," said Goodman. "We strive to build the best axles and drivelines for our customers and to take good care of our people."

Goodman began his career with Dana in 1993 as a senior internal auditor and has held a variety of increasingly responsible positions in Dana manufacturing facilities around the country. Goodman earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Adrian College in Adrian, Mich.
