A.O. Smith Declares Quarterly Dividend

MILWAUKEE, Wis., Oct. 7, 2003 -- Directors of A.O. Smith Corporation today declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $.15 per share on Common Stock and Class A Common Stock.

The dividend is payable on Nov. 17 to shareholders of record Oct. 31.
