John A. Janitz Named Co-Lead of Questor Management Company
Will Co-Manage Questor Management Company With Founder Jay Alix
SOUTHFIELD, MI, Oct. 6 -- John A. Janitz, a new Questor Principal, has been named Co-Managing Principal, along with Jay Alix, of Questor Management Company. Questor is a private equity firm specializing in acquiring and turning around troubled companies.
"John Janitz is an experienced executive with a proven track record of success in a variety of industries. He has demonstrated his mettle at a number of Fortune 100 companies, most recently as President and COO of Textron Inc., a $13 billion revenue multi-industry concern," said Jay Alix.
Mr. Janitz has been serving as Chairman of Teksid Aluminum, the world's largest global producer of aluminum castings for the automotive industry. Questor led a group that acquired Teksid Aluminum from Fiat in September 2002. Jay Alix said, "John has been instrumental in improving the operating performance of Teksid Aluminum and we look forward to having him bring his excellent operating skills and strategic thinking to the other Questor portfolio companies, as well as our future investments."
Prior to becoming President and COO of Textron Inc., Mr. Janitz served as Chairman, President and CEO of Textron Automotive Company Inc., a $3.1 billion multi-division business segment of Textron Inc. Mr. Janitz held several senior level assignments at TRW Inc., including Executive Vice President and General Manager of its Occupant Restraints Group and Vice President and General Manager of its Vehicle Safety Systems and Steering and Suspension Divisions. Mr. Janitz was President of Wickes Manufacturing Company, a multi-industry firm, and held a number of executive positions at Wickes' predecessor company, Gulf + Western Industries Inc., including Group Vice President and President of its Maching Tool and Heat Transfer Divisions. He also held management positions at Ford Motor Company.
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of Teksid Aluminum, Mr. Janitz serves as non-executive Chairman of the Board of Chromolox Inc.
Mr. Janitz holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Villanova University, and an MBA degree from Eastern Michigan University. He is a graduate of the Harvard University Advanced Management Program.
