GM Reports September 2003 Sales Up 13 %
DETROIT October 1, 2003; Dow Jones reports that General Motors Corp.'s September U.S. sales rose 12.8% on double-digit increases in car and truck sales.
This was GM's first monthly sales increase since June.
In a press release Wednesday, the auto maker said it sold 367,496 vehicles, compared with 312,276 a year ago.
Car sales rose 10.3% to 159,416 vehicles from the year-ago level of 138,453.
Truck sales rose 14.7% to 208,080 vehicles from 173,823 last year.
GM benefitted from an extra selling day in September. There were 24 selling days, compared with 23 in September 2002.
