Delphi and Cadpo Announce Training Program For Delphi's Breakthrough CAD/CAM Methodologies
TROY, Mich., Sept. 29 -- Delphi Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Delphi Corp. , has selected Cadpo to provide a certified training program for its patented* CAD/CAM methodologies. Delphi has commercialized its internally developed design and manufacturing methodologies: Horizontal Modeling(TM) and Digital Process Design(TM). These formal, structured methodologies lower product and process design costs and increase productivity throughout the design-to-manufacturing cycle. Cadpo provides the MCAD/PLM industry standard in vendor neutral eLearning, training and engineering services.

"These methodologies have been changing the way our designers design for some time," said Andrew Brown, Jr., president, Delphi Technologies. "They are proven to shorten design cycles and lead times, reduce cost and waste, and dramatically accelerate time-to-market. In production use, we regularly see reductions of 50 percent in model creation time and 90 percent in model editing time. By commercializing our methods through specialized training and certification programs, Delphi is making these benefits available to the manufacturing industry as a whole."
"Methodologies like Six Sigma and lean manufacturing have improved manufacturing and quality," said David Fedler, vice president, Cadpo. "But these are the first new design methods introduced since parametric modeling more than 20 years ago. Cadpo is extremely excited to collaborate with Delphi Technologies in helping companies realize lower design costs and productivity gains from these advanced methods."
By changing the way designers create 3-D CAD models with their existing CAD systems, Horizontal Modeling(TM) produces higher quality data that is easier to change and more usable in downstream functions. Digital Process Design(TM) uses these horizontal models to rapidly create master process models and their associated process sheets. Together, these methodologies enable greater concurrency between product and process design, which shortens design cycle times, resulting in increased productivity of design resources and greater innovation.
The training and certification program is available immediately, and includes three days of instructor-led training followed by e-learning assessments and mentoring as needed. Initially, the training is offered for the Unigraphics and CATIA CAD platforms. However, the methodologies are CAD system neutral, so they can be implemented across multi-vendor CAD implementations.
Cadpo and Delphi will present technical case studies at the CATIA Operator's Exchange (COE) Fall Conference & TechniFair in Seattle, Wash., Sept. 28-Oct. 1 and D.H. Brown's Product Lifecycle Management Road Map(TM) 2003, to be held Oct. 28-29 in Dearborn, Mich.
