On his qualifying effortŠ ³This will be the hottest race of the season. We
were joking that the team owners will get their moneyıs worth out of their
drivers tomorrow. This will be a tough race physically. It will be very
demanding, brutal to run an 87-lap race. You also have to deal with the
intricacies of the track like the crowning and manhole covers.

³Itıll also be tough on the car because itıs such a tight, bumpy circuit.
Thatıs whatıs great about Trans-Am racing itıs a sprint race. Youıve got
to get your set-up right because there are no pit stops and no opportunities
for changes.

³Weıve got pavement changes, too. The concrete is very slippery but the
asphalt has pretty good grip. Thatıs part of the challenge of a street
course; itıs continuously changing. Youıre always adding rubber (from
different tire manufacturers) and some arenıt compatible. The car didnıt
feel very good at first but it got better and better and I think it was
because the BFGoodrich tires rubber was finally down.

³Itıs very difficult to pass on this track. If the weatherıs like this
tomorrow, itıll be a tough race.²
