Drissi Climbs Miami Speed Charts in First-Round Run

MIAMI Tomy Drissišs love affair with temporary street circuits showed in
wet first-round practice for the Motorock Miami 100 Motorock Trans-Am Tour
for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup race Friday at the Grand Prix Americas circuit
in Miami. Drissi, who posted his lone Trans-Am Tour victory at Long Beach in
2000, toured the 1.15-mile circuit in one minute and 3.957 seconds at an
average speed of 64.731 miles per hour.
Drissišs Rocketsports Racing teammate Johnny Miller was second fastest in
the No. 64 Motorock Jaguar XKR, ahead of Michael Lewis in the No. 12
Westward Tools Jaguar XKR. Points leader Scott Pruett was fourth quick in
the No. 7 Motorock/Jaguar R Performance XKR, followed by rookie Bobby Sak in
the No. 10 Revolution Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette.
Second-round practice is scheduled for today at 5 p.m. The Motorock Miami
100 is scheduled to start at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28. The
race will air on a tape-delayed basis on SPEED on Friday, Oct. 10 at 9 p.m.
Eastern Time.
