Terry Borcheller - Miami preview

hometown boy

Terry Borcheller heads home for his next race - the Sept. 27 American Le Mans
Series event in Miami. Borcheller, now living in Phoenix, was born in
Hialeah, Fla., just a few miles from Miami. His co-driver Shane Lewis lives in
Jupiter, Fla., about 80 miles north of the city. The pair will drive a distinctly
non-Florida race car, the No. 63 ACEMCO Motorsports Ferrari 360 Modena GT.

"I'm a hometown boy; there's incentive to do well," Borcheller noted. "I
moved out of [Hialeah] when I was five years old, but I still love Miami, I love
the Dolphins, I love south Florida."

Although the Miami track layout has been modified, most of the 1.22-mile
temporary street circuit is the same as it was in 2002. That's good news for
Borcheller, who qualified on the GTS pole position in Miami last year.

double treat

The American Le Mans Series race will be the Saturday feature in Miami, with
a Champ Car World Series race on Sunday. Borcheller believes the double bill
offers extra value for race fans.

"It's going to be a treat to run with Champ Cars," he said. "That usually
draws a big crowd, especially with the [championship] points battle as tight as
it is. They're the main event, but we get a lot of spillover from them. The
fans are walking around all day and they're very interested in our cars. We
race exotic sports cars!"

beauty!

Borcheller had an early - and attractive - start to the Miami race
festivities this year. He and his wife Tracy were judges in the July 17 round of
competition for the Miss Grand Prix Americas title.
