Donald Runkle, Delphi vice chairman and chief technology officer, will discuss the topics of fuel economy relating to U.S. consumers and U.S. legislation, and which powertrain technologies consumers will invest in during a special plenary session on Sept. 23 at 1:30 pm. This session will focus on how key environmental issues impact automotive powertrains and the technical options available to help resolve them.
"We are pleased to be part of the Global Powertrain Congress," said Runkle. "It is the only conference and exposition dedicated to publicizing information on the total automotive powertrain system. Attendees can learn about the most recent advances in powertrains, transmissions, and hybrid vehicles, and what developments are still needed in these areas."
Jean Botti, chief technologist, Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems, will be the leader and chair for the combustion and lean-burn session of the advanced engine design and performance meeting on Sept. 24 at 1:35 p.m.
"This Congress is disseminating information that will help both OEMs and suppliers to develop ways for powertrains to meet stringent fuel and exhaust standards in the future," said Botti. "Delphi is in the forefront of developing engine management systems using software, electronics, and advanced hardware such as our direct injection gasoline system, continuously variable cam-phasing, variable valve train, and our ion-sense ignition subsystem to help OEMs achieve greater fuel economy and lower exhaust emissions."
Featuring speakers from both OEMs and tiered suppliers, this three-day Congress will cover the latest advancements in powertrains, transmissions, alternative fuels, hybrid-vehicle programs, and automotive manufacturing applications using lasers.
The Congress will present more than 80 technical papers and have more than 31 OEM and supplier exhibitors along with 17 technical sessions. Representatives from 17 countries are expected to be in attendance. Botti is a member of the ICPEM/GPC advisory board.
