Castrol Syntec Celebrates Those With a Passion for Performance at 2003 NOPI Nationals

NDRA Driver Jojo Callos, SYNTEC Dyno Challenge Set to Show Automotive Enthusiasts What It Takes to Outperform

ATLANTA, Sept. 17 -- Nearly 100,000 young men and women will descend on the Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend for the nation's largest display of horsepower, style and automotive passion at the NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow. At the center of the extravaganza will be Castrol SYNTEC and its NOPI Drag Racing Association driver Jojo Callos, showing these passionate consumers how to outperform with the right motor oil and having them earn horsepower bragging rights at the Castrol SYNTEC Dyno Challenge.

One of the hottest trends in America is for young men and women to trick out their cars for sport and style as well as performance. The individuals that make up this distinct segment of Americans are as unique as their customized vehicles. The group is comprised of 18-25 year olds from predominantly Asian American, Latino and African American backgrounds. More than 18 percent of the group is female. These young men and women spent more than $2.37 billion to customize their automobiles last year and NOPI Nationals is one of the premier venues in the world to reach this growing segment of passionate consumers.

"NOPI brings together this community of young men and women who are so extremely passionate about their cars that only the finest parts, accessories and motor oil will do," said Mike DeBiasi, Castrol SYNTEC marketing manager. "What drives these passionate consumers is performance, and this year, Castrol SYNTEC has several fun activities that will challenge how they think about their cars' performance."

According to DeBiasi, automotive enthusiasts can take the SYNTEC Dyno Challenge (visit www.SYNTECDyno.com for eligibility information) to find out how much horsepower they really pack under the hoods of their Acura Integras, Honda Civics, Ford Focuses or other sport compact vehicles; meet NOPI Drag Racing Association driver Jojo Callos, who will be at the SYNTEC area to talk about how to achieve the best performance and display his racecar; and learn about recently conducted tests that showed Castrol SYNTEC outperformed leading conventional oils.

"When I hit the high revs in my Acura Integra, I trust that SYNTEC is providing the best protection for my engine," said Jojo Callos, who typifies this new generation of passionate consumers. "At high speeds, conventional motor oils can break down, but SYNTEC offers stability and endurance. It also has a powerful additive package that neutralizes corrosive particles, preventing them from grouping together and forming sludge."

NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow is the largest import/compact car show in the world. The two-day event is a hotbed for drivers to show off ultra-powerful engines in import and sport compact cars. Events include a hydraulics competition, a car show contest, a burnout contest (who can create the most smoke from their tires) and an audio system contest, among others. More than 6,000 cars will be on display and more than 100,000 spectators are expected to attended the 2003 NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow.
