During the spring legislative session, the Illinois General Assembly passed Senate Bill 726 creating a Regional Transportation Task Force. Governor Rod Blagojevich signed this legislation on August 1, 2003.

The Task Force is charged with making recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly regarding transportation and land use planning in Northeastern Illinois.

Representatives from Chicago Metropolis 2020, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Center for Neighborhood Technology, and the Openlands Project will discuss and answer questions related to regional transportation and land use policy, including:

   -- A briefing on the potential significance of the Transportation Task
      Force and the key outcomes on which it should focus.
   -- A critique of the current transportation and land use planning
      process, including a discussion of the Chicago Area Transportation
      Study (CATS) 2030 Regional Transportation Plan.

      Fix It: A Framework for Building a More Effective Regional
      Transportation System.
