Lear Corporation Names Jimmie E. Comer President - North American Joint Ventures and Diversity
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Sept. 16 -- Lear Corporation today announced the appointment of Jimmie E. Comer to president - North American Joint Ventures and Diversity, effective immediately. Comer reports to Lear Vice Chairman, James H. Vandenberghe.
In his new role, Comer is responsible for supporting the growth and development of Lear's minority joint ventures and supplier diversity activities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. In addition, Comer will oversee diversity-related initiatives involving Lear employees and the company's support to the community.
Comer joined Lear in 1987 as director of Quality Assurance and has held various positions of increasing responsibility during his 16-year career at Lear, including the title of vice president in the areas of Global Quality and Manufacturing. Most recently, he was president - North American Joint Ventures Division, a position he has held since February, 2000.
Before joining Lear, Comer was employed with Mazda Motor Corporation and also held various quality-related positions during a 15-year career with General Motors Corporation. He earned a bachelor of science degree in General Studies from Wayne State University in Detroit.
