Dow Corning Sealant Pads and Strips Offer Cost-Effective, High-Performance Sealing

MIDLAND, Mich., Sept. 16 -- Continuing its efforts to provide cost-effective solutions to the automotive industry, Dow Corning Electronics has introduced Dow Corning(R) Pre-cured Gel Sealant Pads and Strips for automotive connectors. This follows the company's introduction of several new adhesives designed for automotive applications earlier this year. In conjunction with the Dow Corning Gel Sealants product family, the company also offers comprehensive processing solutions.

Automotive connectors are used in between an automobile's electronics systems and engine control unit (ECU). Connectors that use small wire sizes and have high pin counts are excellent candidates for Gel Sealant Pads. The Gel Sealant Pads can be used to minimize the contact-to-contact distance, miniaturizing the connector. This is especially helpful when space is at a premium under the hood.

Many of the ECU connector applications require 10 or more different wiring variations. One Gel Sealant Pad can be used for all of these variations, eliminating the need for using wiring-specific retention caps. This simplifies logistics and reduces the possibility of assembly error.

Dow Corning Gel Sealant Pads can be used in round to flat wire transition connectors using a clamshell design and various other applications where the gel will be under compression. This provides customers with another choice for optimizing their processes. The Gel Sealant Pads can be supplied pre-stamped or as continuous rolls, for lowest purchase cost.
