In Response to 'Blackout 2003,' Aura Systems Donates Mobile Power Systems for Key Population Centers
Aura's AuraGen(R) Mobile Power System Offered to Provide Electric Power for Critical Municipal Services During a Range of Emergencies
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 15 -- Aura Systems, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: AURA) today announced a program to donate up to 100 of its AuraGen(R) Underhood Mobile Power Systems and related equipment to municipalities in key population centers across the United States. The targeted, large population centers are subject to a variety of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, tornados, hurricanes, and blackouts, and are obvious targets of manmade disasters such as terrorist attacks. The AuraGen can provide electric power for law enforcement, fire/rescue, emergency medical, public health, traffic control and other critical municipal services for communications and utility restoration.
"The AuraGen is presently deployed with a wide range of emergency 'first responders' in law enforcement, fire/rescue, emergency medical, and other critical municipal services throughout the United States," said Neal Meehan, Aura chairman and chief executive officer. "It is an ideal mobile electric power source for emergency services that save lives. It's our hope that this program helps to further raise the level of visibility on the need for 'off- grid' mobile electric power sources during emergency situations such as the recent blackout in the Northeast."
The AuraGen is an underhood power source driven by a vehicle's engine, providing up to 8,000 Watts of continuous, high-quality electrical power, whether the vehicle is parked or moving. The AuraGen high-quality, electric power can operate any type of equipment, from the most sensitive display, radio, computer, traffic light or defibrillator, to the most brute force light bank, compressor, drill or microwave. The AuraGen makes a vehicle a responsive, on-demand power source ready in an instant to provide critical electrical power when and where it is needed.
Aura Systems will donate, and install, up to 8 G5000 AuraGen Underhood Mobile Power Systems and associated equipment to each of the target municipalities. Aura will also donate an equal number of electrical transfer switches for installation in key buildings such as government buildings, fire/police stations, and community shelters. This equipment allows vital services located within these key facilities to continue to operate on power provided by vehicles equipped with the AuraGen.
"If the 9-11 terrorist attacks and the recent blackout in the Northeast have taught us anything, it's the importance of planning in advance for disasters that can place a massive and immediate demand on emergency services," Meehan added. "This program will highlight the value of strategically deploying cost-effective, mobile electric power prior to a disaster striking. There's the added benefit that these mobile power systems will be used on a daily basis fulfilling the mobile power needs of community emergency responders and municipal service providers. Aura has worked closely with the military and homeland defense organizations, and we view this program as a natural extension of Aura's commitment to help save lives and provide for a safer America."
The target population centers include: California: Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco Texas: Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio New York: Albany, Hempstead, and New York City And Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, Cleveland, OH, and Washington, DC. About Aura Systems
