ROCK FALLS RACERS SWEEP SUMMIT SERIES RACE OF CHAMPIONS 


MORRISON, COLO. – Steve Roehrs and Dale Detlie, both representing Rock Falls Raceway in Wisconsin, earned the top honors in today’s Race of Champions at Bandimere Speedway.  The highly anticipated NHRA Summit Series Finals Race of Champions pitted the top drivers in Car and Motorcycle categories for a face-off among the very best from 20 racetracks in the West Central Division.

Steve Roehrs, who won the event in 1991, was very happy to return to the winner’s circle.  “This race means a lot.  To win with all your friends and fellow racers here is such an awesome feeling,” said Roehrs.  “My daughter, Megan, is here and this win really put a smile on her face.”

Dale Detlie took the win in Motorcycle when he defeated Curtis Spracklin, of Omaha, Neb., in the final round. “It was fun.  This race is the best of the best, so it’s always tough.  To get a win feels really good,” Detlie said of his victory.

Racing action continues tomorrow when drivers in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle categories will compete for the opportunity to represent the West Central division in the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. One winner from each category will advance to the Finals, where they will be pitted against winners from six other divisions for a national title and a $5,000 pay-out. A High School category is also included and participants will compete for trophies and scholarship money.

The NHRA Summit Racing Series Finals continue tomorrow at 8 a.m.  Gates open at 7 a.m.  Bandimere Speedway is located at 3051 S. Rooney Road; west of Denver on Interstate 470 in Morrison.  For more information, contact the track at (303) 697-6001, or NHRA at (626) 688-9714.
