NAMARS PR: CLAUSON IS CHAMP, WHICHESTER MOVED TO 2004, ILLINOIS 100 EVENT INFO....

 CLAUSEN CLOBBERS KENYONS, CLAIMS SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP
Speedway, IN September 12, 2003 -- All the kid had to do was start the feature to clinch the 2003 NAMARS Kenyon MidgetCar Series championship... But defending Series champion Bryan Clauson had other plans - robust plans, indeed. The fourteen year old future superstar was relegated to the "Rent-a-Ride" of Don Kenyon's 3-K Racing due to car owner, Craig Armstrong's decision to place son, Dakota in the seat for the season's last event to garner valuable seat time for the 2004 season - heck, "all the kid had to do was start the feature to clinch the championship"... Not only did he capture his second consecutive Series championship Thursday night at the Indianapolis Speedrome, but he won the 100 lap feature from his 3rd starting position - in a rented race car!

Clauson took the lead early and in commanding fashion and never looked back, capturing his sixth win of the season, including the last three in a row to post an impressive eleven podium finishes and thirteen top-fives in fifteen races. Series runner-up Jamie Williams, Derek Bischak, Rookie of the Year Brent Beauchamp, and Josh Clemons rounded out the top five.

WINCHESTER MIDGETCAR CLASSIC TO RUN IN 2004;

ILLINOIS 100 TO FINISH MIDGETCAR SEASON

Winchester, IN Officials at Winchester Speedway and NAMARS have decided to forgo the Winchester MidgetCar Classic until the 2004 season for a myriad of reasons including a 2003 season plagued with questionable weather patterns and low industry car counts. The Winchester MidgetCar Classic will become a premier event on both the Winchester Speedway and NAMARS 2004 schedules, with a date to be announced later this year.

While there is no question that high-profile MidgetCar racing should and will return to the World's Fastest Half Mile, and that both groups are very eager for that date, there must be some rest assurance that certain and logical goals will be achieved. In light of current circumstances, both NAMARS and Winchester Speedway are confident that moving this event to 2004 will ultimately benefit all parties.

Morris, IL The Illinois 100 at Grundy County Speedway, slated for Saturday, September 20 will be the final race of the 2003 season for both NAMARS and UMARA, ultimately determining both extremely tight point chases. Oddly enough, while both organizations utilize completely different point structures, championship contenders in both organizations are separated by mere six finishing positions in each respective sanction heading into this Sunday's race at the Indianapolis Speedrome. The Illinois 100 will feature 100 laps of high-powered open wheel action paying $2,000 to the winner. The top sixteen qualifiers will transfer directly to the feature event, with the last four starters coming from a 15 lap qualifying race. Pit gates open at 1pm, practice at 5pm, racing at 7:30.
