NOTES OF INTEREST: This year's version of the Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200 presented by Advance Auto Parts will mark the 71st appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Salem Speedway since 1955. And, for the very first time, the event will go off under the lights on a Saturday night rather than the standard Sunday afternoon show. Salem is the only short-track on the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule that appears twice in a single season. 4-time RE/MAX Series champion and current point leader Frank Kimmel has won 7 of his last 11 attempts at Salem defeated only by Bill Baird, Ken Schrader, Tracy Leslie and Shelby Howard who became the youngest winner in ARCA RE/MAX Series history with his victory at Salem in April of '03. Over 40 drivers from 15 states will be competing for 34 starting positions in this year's Fall Classic. In addition to the RE/MAX Series, the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will also be competing at Salem on the same day. Saturday's pre-race festivities also feature an autograph session just prior to the start of the Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200. Notable RE/MAX Series past winners at Salem include Winston Cup champion Bobby Allison, six-time series champion Iggy Katona, three-time series champion Jack Bowsher, '52 Indy 500 winner Troy Ruttman, USAC stock car veteran Don White and Winston Cup regular Ken Schrader to name a few. In addition to all the racing, a Band of Rogues will provide '60s era music from 4 to 5:30 behind the main grandstand while Easy Money, a popular classic rock band, is the featured attraction at the annual Fall Classic Party following the racing action Saturday night.
RIVER FALLS MALL TO HOST "ARCA NIGHT OF STARS" The Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA Fall Classic presented by Advance Auto Parts kicks-off on Friday night, Sept. 12 at River Falls Mall in Clarksville, Ind. The first ever "ARCA Night Of Stars" is scheduled to take place at the Southern Indiana entertainment and shopping complex. Frank Kimmel, Shelby Howard, Andy Belmont, Christi Passmore and Brent Sherman are all scheduled to appear for a driver autograph session from 5 to 7 p.m. (4 to 6 p.m. Salem time). In addition, show cars will be on display throughout the day. Race fans are invited to stop by and register for door prizes, including Fall Classic 200 tickets.
