Gentex Begins Shipping Automatic-Dimming Mirrors to Honda
ZEELAND, Mich., Sept. 10 -- Gentex Corporation, the world's leading supplier of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors to the worldwide automotive industry, has begun shipping interior, automatic-dimming mirrors for the 2004 Honda Inspire. The Inspire, sold only in Japan, is the first Honda-badged vehicle to offer auto-dimming mirrors. A Gentex base automatic-dimming mirror is standard on the vehicle's top trim level.
Gentex Night Vision Safety(TM) (NVS(R)) mirrors automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safe.
"We are pleased to announce our second program with Honda Motor Company this year," said Gentex Executive Vice President Garth Deur. "The Inspire is important to Gentex's long-term strategy of penetrating the nearly six- million-unit vehicle market in Japan, as it's the first sub-luxury segment model there offering an auto-dimming mirror. We are optimistic that we'll continue to build on the good relationship that we've worked to develop with Honda, and that both companies will reap the rewards of this endeavor."
