RACEWAY; SEPT. 6 2003; 

KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 29 GM GOODWRENCH CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO: Finished 16th
after being hit by Ricky Rudd entering Turn 1 with eight laps remaining
while running second. The on-track altercation carried over onto pit road as
the race ended, and as a result, both the GM Goodwrench and No. 21 crews
were summoned to the NASCAR trailer. "I can't help but be angry. We are
running for the championship this year and I thought we had another second
(place finish) locked up. We got spun out by the No. 21 (Ricky Rudd) going
into Turn 1 and he took us out. That was pure adrenaline out there on pit
road. I was hot and I wanted to let Ricky know that. Things got a little
heated with the two teams so we all went for a little chat in the NASCAR
trailer. Everything's cool now, I guess. I'm just still hot. He never even
tried to pass me; he just wrecked me.

"We had some great pit stops tonight and I'm extremely proud of this team. I
guess we'll have to start another streak of top-five runs again. We were
consistent tonight until one little slip-up at the end. We all know we can
do it again."

JOE NEMECHEK, NO. 25 UAW-DELPHI CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO: Finished 26th: "We
just kind of struggled at the beginning of the race. We were too loose. We
were really good in Happy Hour but just a little too free for the start of
the race. We got it tightened up and were passing cars but then we got in a
wreck there off of Turn 2 that totally demolished the front end of the car.
It took all the downforce off the front end of the car. And then we just
fought not being able to turn the rest of the night. It was very unfortunate
for the UAW-Delphi Chevy. We were hoping to come back here and make the
sweep. Heck, we were as good as (Dale) Jr. and all those guys. We just
needed to get up there with them, but luck just didn't go our way."

THERE WERE A LOT OF FIREWORKS AFTER THE RACE TONIGHT. DO HOT TEMPERS GO TO
THE NEXT WEEK AND THE WEEK AFTER THAT? "In don't know. You always remember.
But all these fist fights and all that other stuff that's going on is just
not right. People have got to be a little more mature about this. With the
factory support we get from General Motors and all the other brands - they
don't want to see this stuff going on. The drivers have got to start using
their heads."

RICKY CRAVEN, NO. 32 TIDE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX: Finished 30th: "It was a tough
night for the Tide Pontiac, a long night. We had a miscue on pit road that
could have been avoided, but mistakes happen. We had a good car at the end
of the race after making some adjustments. We had hoped to add another
top-10 finish to the couple that we'd strung together. We have some strong
races coming up and hopefully we can build on that."

JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX: Finished 9th: "It took
us all day to get back where we started. It was just tough. We were just off
a little on the balance, that's all. James [Ince] and the guys just kept
working on it. I had a tough time with it, so I'm extremely happy with
ninth. I don't think we deserved ninth. They kept working on it trying to
get it better for me. I screwed up a couple times and lost a lot of spots,
but to come out ninth, we have to be happy with that."

JOHN ANDRETTI, NO. 1 PENNZOIL CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO: Finished 14th in his
first ride with the No. 1 team: "I'm pretty disappointed that we were spun
out when we came all the way from 24th and into the top 10. We had an
awesome car but when we suffered the damage to the nose. It just wouldn't
turn the same. The guys made adjustments and the car was still good. It just
made it harder to pass. I'm just delighted to be here and driving a race car
that is so good. This is just a lot of fun for me."

BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO: Finished
6th: "We had  a lug nut problem on pit road. I guess that's what it was. I
didn't talk to them [his crew] that much after that. I knew that's what it
was. We lost about eight spots there and that really hurt us. It's a track
position situation too. We had a good car but just couldn't get back up
there. The guys did a great job. Yesterday we didn't have a very fast car
and it didn't handle good. We changed a lot of stuff on it. We came back
tonight and had a really fast car, so that was a good thing." YOU NEEDED A
JUMP START AND THIS WILL DO IT. "I wish we could have finished where Ryan
was running. We were right behind him when we had to pit for fuel, because
we couldn't make it the rest of the way. All in all, it was still a good
night, because we came back from where we were yesterday at the bottom of
the list.we just made a ton of changes. I told Mark Martin before the race
started that I should start at the back because I feel like I have the
backup car. It was a good night and this team needed that. They worked
really hard yesterday to get the car right and I'm really proud of them."

DALE EARNHARDT, JR., NO. 8 BUDWEISER CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO: Finished 17th:
"It was really, really disappointing to have such a fast car and finish
17th. The car was really fast, but from the start of the race I had some
sort of vibration in the brakes. I really couldn't drive it hard because the
vibration made the front tires skip across the track, but we were still
really fast. I didn't want to push the car hard if I didn't know how it
would respond. This is always one of the track where we've had good
finishes, but we came up about 50 laps short tonight. Because I wasn't able
to push it hard, we had a lot of car left for them at the end." WHAT
HAPPENED TO YOU THERE AT THE END? "I ran over some debris on the track (on
lap 318) in Turn 2. I wasn't sure if the right front was going flat, but we
decided to stay out because it looked like it was going to stay up. I guess
it took another 10 laps for it to actually go flat. I had no chance to hang
on and we had to pit."

TERRY LABONTE, NO. 5 KELLOGG'S/got milk? CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO: Finished
8th: "We're starting to get our consistency back and this finish tonight put
us in the top 10 in points, which is where we want to be and where this team
belongs. We had a vibration with the front brakes from about halfway through
the race which upset the car and really prevented us from running through
the corners as smoothly as we needed to. We got out front there and led some
laps [10] and had another strong finish to keep our momentum going into
Loudon."
