Orbit Racing - Laguna Seca test day

Orbit Racing enjoyed a smooth test day at Laguna Seca Raceway, using a 
90-minute track session to work on car setup for the American Le Mans Series race on 
Sunday.  Peter Baron set the quickest team time in the No. 43 YES Network 
Porsche 911 GT3 RS - his time of one minute 29.384 seconds on the 2.238-mile road 
course was sixth in the GT class.

Baron's driving partner, Leo Hindery, noted the big GT grid will ensure a 
very competitive race.  "It's always fun to be back at Laguna Seca," he said.  
"It's a real fans' track - fans have great vantage points all around and it's a 
fun track to give them vantage points on.  Peter is right in the hunt and I 
did some pretty good times, so we're looking forward to the race.  There are 20 
cars in GT this weekend - the biggest field of the season - so it's going to 
be hard to get a podium.  But we should do top-third if we're lucky."

roller-coaster ride

Jay and Joe Policastro were learning the track, as well as setting up their 
No. 42 Classic Industries Porsche, during the Friday test day.  It's their 
first time at Laguna Seca.

"We drove around and looked at the corners [on Thursday] and we have a video 
of the track that we took from the Internet," Joe Policastro said.  "It's 
really exciting.  It's a challenging course, much more challenging than I'd read 
about it.  The Corkscrew is like a roller-coaster ride - you can't see a thing, 
then all of a sudden it goes down and around.  The turns are fast - probably 
the fastest turns we've had.  It's challenging, but also a lot of fun!"

chefs on track

Peter Baron and Jay Policastro will swap their driver suits for chef's hats 
when they prepare and serve dinner to a race fan and his or her guests on 
Saturday.  The dinner at Marion's Catering is first prize in Saturday's Victory 
Laps slot-car competition in the Orbit paddock.  Fans who donate $5 to the 
Victory Junction Gang Camp will compete for prizes through the weekend, including a 
Scalextric slot-car set, a sealed copy of Project 2708 Porsche's Quest for 
Indy (donated by Michelin's John Love), a Michelin Man bobblehead doll and Orbit 
Racing t-shirts.

The Victory Junction Gang Camp is a summer camp initiated by Kyle and Pattie 
Petty in memory of their son, Adam.  Orbit Racing driver Leo Hindery is a 
co-founder of the camp.
