Sika Automotive Provides Great Barrier Solutions For NVH, Dust, Airflow and Moisture
MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Sept. 5 -- The SikaBarrier(R) line, developed by Sika Automotive, offers automakers a flexible range of barrier solutions for NVH (noise, vibration, harshness), dust, airflow and moisture problems. The cost-effective, high-performance barriers can be customized and optimized for each specific application.
SikaBarrier(R) products are either mastic pressure-sensitive adhesives (SikaBarrier(R) 606) or specifically designed thermoplastic parts (SikaBarrier(R) 600). The mastic products can be applied in any area of the vehicle assembly, body, paint or trim shops to block airborne noise from body openings. SikaBarrier(R) thermoplastic parts utilize a high-density material in the form of a plug that can be used as a physical barrier. Supplied as customized and formed parts, they can be designed and vacuum formed or injection molded to seal any size hole in a vehicle passenger compartment. The material is a PVC-free alternative to acoustical barriers. The high- density of all SikaBarrier(R) parts provides an optimum acoustic performance level with the thinnest part thickness, reducing both vehicle weight and cost.
"Our customers are increasingly utilizing SikaBarrier Solutions to reduce the sound levels within the vehicle," said Mitch Buback, Senior Market Field Manager. "Application of Sika's high mass, thin wall barrier is making a significant difference to them in increasing performance, while lowering overall costs."
