TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 3 -- Marking the second best August in the division's history, August sales of Acura vehicles totaled 16,204, up 2.9 percent compared to last year based on a daily selling rate, Acura announced today.
The MDX luxury SUV was the top-selling model for the fourth straight month with sales of 4,964 up 11.3 percent over the previous record of 4,625 set last August. The new, upgraded 2004 MDX, featuring sportier styling, more horsepower and additional interior refinements, goes on sale this month.
"We've had a really strong summer," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "TSX has exceeded our sales goals each and every month and demand for the MDX has not wavered. With the new MDX on sale this month and the all-new 2004 TL coming out in October, our dealers will be very busy."
The new 2004 TSX sports sedan posted its second highest sales total since its March debut with 2,514 units sold. August sales of the TL performance luxury sedan totaled 4,571 while sales of the RSX sports coupe sales totaled 2,789.
