Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, ATX Launch Telematics
DALLAS-FORT WORTH, Sept. 3 -- ATX, the world's leading independent provider of telematics services, today announced a multi-year agreement to provide telematics services in North America for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars NA, LLC, Woodcliff Lake, N.J., beginning with the deliveries of the new Phantom this summer.
Under terms of the agreement, ATX will provide telematics services such as location-based routing assistance, location-enhanced connection to roadside assistance, location-based emergency response, and automatic collision notification as a standard feature on all Rolls-Royce vehicles sold in the U.S. and Canada.
Telematics is an emerging industry that provides a variety of data and voice services to motorists based upon the vehicle's location. The technology used to deliver telematics services involves the integration of wireless telecommunications, GPS satellite location technology, in-vehicle electronics and off-vehicle data processing functions.
"Rolls-Royce Motor Car's decision reflects the emphasis that ATX places on highly personal and responsive service to motorists as well as a highly customized service that meets the specific business objectives of the vehicle manufacturer," said Steve Millstein, ATX's president and chief executive officer. "Having Rolls-Royce as a customer certainly helps us maintain our reputation for servicing some of the most quality-oriented, prestigious and discriminating brands in the automotive market. Meeting the expectation of Rolls-Royce customers will be an excellent test on how well we've implemented the quality performance benchmarks modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award program."
