Orbit Racing - Laguna Seca preview

rookies

Orbit Racing returns to Laguna Seca Raceway for the Sept. 7 American Le Mans
Series race with two track rookies and two veterans. Joe and Jay Policastro
of Latrobe, Pa., will drive the 2.238-mile Monterey, Calif., road course for
the first time, behind the wheel of the No. 42 Classic Industries Porsche 911
GT3 RS. Their teammates Leo Hindery of New York and Peter Baron of Deerfield
Beach, Fla., will draw on their previous experience to max results in the No. 43
YES Network Porsche.

"The track has a lot of history that we would like to make a part our racing
experience," Joe Policastro noted. "It's hard to believe that we are going
into the final third of the season; this season has been a coast-to-coast
marathon."

The father/son duo missed two races, but Joe Policastro said the Aug. 24 race
at Road America put them back in race mode: "The Road America race has our
fire burning again. After the last race we can see what happens when you miss
two races - the competition is getting stronger. We both are working to
improve our performance levels [and] Road America was an improvement for us - both
of our times improved over our last visit."

local links

Not only have Leo Hindery and Peter Baron raced at Laguna Seca, they are both
former California residents. Hindery started his media career at the San
Francisco Chronicle; Baron attended college and started racing in southern
California.

"It's nice to be back in Northern California on a track we love and have
usually done well with," Hindery said. Baron noted Laguna Seca is similar to Road
America, so the team will have a good car setup to start the California race
week. "A number of the turns have similar characteristics to Road America,"
he said. "We had a great car setup at Road America, so hopefully some of that
will directly translate into a good start at Laguna Seca."

cause to celebrate

Joe and Pam Policastro owned a boutique winery for 10 years, and enjoyed many
visits to sample the wines of the Monterey Peninsula. They have several
reasons to celebrate this weekend.

"We are looking forward to enjoying a great bottle (or more after the race)
of the Monterey wine," Joe said. "This should be an exciting weekend - along
with the race, it's our wedding anniversary and Pam's birthday. [And] one of
our sponsors, Sabatello Companies, will be joining us this weekend."
