LOS ANGELES--Sept. 2, 2003--California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC) announced today that it is offering a new service: Supply Chain Management (SCM). SCM focuses on both manufacturers and distributors, allowing them to transform their supply chain operations into a competitive advantage.

CMTC is a private, nonprofit consulting company that provides consulting services to Central and Southern California's small and medium size manufacturers and distributors. By offering comprehensive services that help manufacturers increase profits and reduce costs, CMTC helps manufacturers and distributors to overcome their challenges in today's marketplace. CMTC's newest product, SCM, enhances the service that CMTC delivers to California's manufacturers. "We are excited to deliver such an exceptional type of service," says James Watson, VP of Consulting for CMTC. "Our hands-on approach to delivering SCM will help manufacturers and distributors streamline their supply chain operations, allowing them to perform at an optimum level."

SCM is the process of strategically positioning and aligning distributive capabilities to gain and to maintain competitive advantages. In other words, SCM helps manufacturers to streamline the flow of raw materials that come into a manufacturer and to streamline the flow of final products that are shipped from the manufacturer. Through cost effective techniques, SCM will help the manufacturer optimize their supply chain that will enable them to increase profitability. Services within SCM include, but are not limited to: warehouse management, transportation analysis, routing and loading strategies, import/export development, design and implementation picking and sortation methods, improved packaging and kitting techniques, and selection of 3PL providers.

With over 15 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, CMTC's SCM team has the knowledge and expertise to deliver the highest quality of service. Members of the team include Steve Bell, Ron Mateas, Rick McIntosh, Guy Schneggenburger, and David Sheehan, all who have a background in a variety of industries ranging from the apparel and automotive industry to the healthcare and electronics industry. "Our experienced SCM team will help manufacturers respond more quickly to the needs of their customers," says SCM leader Rick McIntosh. "Our team employs a proven and comprehensive approach, utilizing contemporary lean principles designed to eliminate waste and streamline operations with cost-effective solutions."
