Rain Postpones the U.S. Nationals

Event: 48th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals
Location: Indianapolis Raceway Park
      Clermont, IN
Day/Date: Sunday August 31, 2003 

Constant rain and a forecast for similar conditions on Monday forced the NHRA to postpone the 49th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, IN.  Qualifying will now resume with a single session on Friday evening, and conclude with two additional sessions on Saturday, with final eliminations scheduled for Sunday.   

Within moments of the postponement being announced, ACDelco Cavalier driver Kurt Johnson was making plans to take advantage of the extra time, especially as the POWERade Drag Racing Series will now be competing on the next four weekends.

"It's unfortunate, but there's nothing anyone can do about the weather.  We'll head back to Georgia and spend a few days in the shop trying to find some extra power before coming back next weekend.  These next few races are extremely important in the championship chase, and the ACDelco crew will look for any advantage we can find."
