ANJI-TNT Automotive Logistics Co. Delivers with Descartes

SHANGHAI, China--Aug. 2, 20037, 2003--

Strengthening Customer Responsiveness with Regular, On-time Deliveries to Some of China's Largest Automakers

The Descartes Systems Group Inc., (TSX:DSG), a trusted provider of logistics solutions, today announced that ANJI-TNT Automotive Logistics Co., a specialized third-party logistic provider (3PL) to the automotive market in China, has selected the Descartes Routing and Scheduling(TM) solution, Descartes Fleetwise(TM), as a key part of its operations. With Descartes Fleetwise, ANJI-TNT plans to strengthen its customer responsiveness through regular, on-time deliveries to its customers -- some of the country's largest automakers.

The automotive market in China is crowded, fiercely competitive and complex; more than 3,000 suppliers provide vehicle parts to the country's more than 100 automakers alone. As a result of this complexity, many automakers have turned to 3PLs to manage the "just in time" delivery of vehicle parts to their operations. ANJI-TNT provides such services for some of the largest automakers in China.

Having recently won a landmark logistics contract in China, ANJI-TNT was looking to make its pick-up and delivery services even more dynamic and flexible. After a lengthy review process, ANJI-TNT selected the Descartes Fleetwise suite.

Providing a flexible and responsive routing and scheduling solution, Descartes Fleetwise enables ANJI-TNT to manage the on-time collection and delivery of automotive parts from its over 500 suppliers to its various assembly plants and engine factories. ANJI-TNT's 100+ fleet of vehicles can be re-routed as needed and a customer notified about potential delays to deliveries caused by such things as inclement weather or traffic congestion.

"Logistics demands real-time responsiveness and Descartes understands this," said Richard Li, IT Manager, ANJI-TNT. "The Descartes solution enables us to respond to changes in customer orders and delivery schedules when they happen, as they happen. This is crucial in helping to ensure we provide effective 'just in time' distribution services to vehicle makers."

"ANJI-TNT is an excellent example of a market leader using Descartes solutions to meet the dynamic needs of their organization," said Kevin Taylor, Descartes' general manager for the Company's Asia-Pacific operations. "We are pleased to welcome them as a new customer and look forward to working closely with them as their trusted provider of logistics solutions."
