for July 2003
Tokyo, Japan, Aug. 26, 2003 - (JCN Newswire) - Mazda Motor Corp.
is pleased to announce highlights of production and sales results
for July 2003.
I. Domestic Production
Models that showed increases over the same month last year: E-Series
(Bongo) Truck, up 163.4%, E-Series (Bongo) Van, up 62.6%,
Tribute/Escape, up 46.5%, E-Series (Bongo Brawny) Truck, up 43.9%,
T-Series, up 33.5%, E-Series (Bongo Brawny) Van, up 10.3%, Mazda6, up
8.5% and Mazda2, up 5.8%;
New models: RX-8 (8,044 units) and Mazda3 (744 units)
Holiday operations: Hiroshima Plant and Ujina Plant No.1, three days
(July 5, 12 and 26) and Hofu Plant No.1 & No.2, two days (July 5, 12).
II. Domestic Sales
Domestic sales increased from a year earlier for the twelfth consecutive
month since August 2002.
Models that showed increases over the same month last year: Titan/Titan
Dash, up 67.3%, Bongo Truck, up 29.1%, Demio, up 28.9%, Bongo Van, up
28.3%, AZ-Wagon, up 20.4%, Bongo Brawny Van, up 8.7%, Millenia, up 4.6%;
New model: RX-8 (2,393 units)
Market share increased over the same month last year:
- Registrations: 5.9%, up 0.5 points (increased for the fourth
consecutive month since April 2003)
- Micro-minis: 2.2%, up 0.1 points (increased for the first time in five
months since February 2003)
- Total: 4.8%, up 0.4 points (increased for the fourth consecutive month
since April 2003)
III. Exports
Models that showed increases over the same month last year: E-Series
(Bongo) Truck/Van, up 111.6% and Tribute/Escape, up 42.1%;
New models: RX-8 (5,422 units) and Mazda3 (287 units)
Destinations that showed increases over the same month last year:
Africa, up 31.7% and Middle East, up 0.1%.
Major countries that showed increases over the same month last year
(shipment based):
- South Africa: 700 units, up 40.0%: Mazda6 sold strongly.
- Iran: 800 units, up 166.7%: 323 sold strongly.
IV. Overseas Production
Overseas production increased from a year earlier for the eleventh
consecutive month since September 2002.
Models that showed increases over the same month last year: Premacy, up
176.7%, 323, up 51.2%, T-Series, up 25.0%, Tribute, up 8.3% and
B-Series, up 7.5%;
New model: Mazda6 (13,200 units)
