Rocketsports Finishes 1-2 in Road America Trans-Am Race

ROCKETSPORTS FINISHES 1-2 IN ROAD AMERICA TRANS-AM RACE
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. After starting on the front row, Rocketsports Racing
drivers Scott Pruett and Johnny Miller finished what they started as they
drove to 1-2 finish in Round 8 of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich
Tires Cup at Road America. Pruett, driving the No. 7 Jaguar R Performance
XKR, collected his sixth win in eight starts this season. Miller, behind
the wheel of the No. 64 Eaton Cutler-Hammer Jaguar XKR, finished second,
claimed his sixth podium finish this year.

Pruettıs Trans-Am victory at Road America was his second on the 4.048 mile,
14-turn course, with his first coming in 1988. Miller, meanwhile, scored
his third consecutive podium finish here.

In addition, Pruettıs win also delivered the 2003 Manufacturersı
Championship to Jaguar. The manufacturer last held the title in 2001.

³I hate for the fans that the race had to end under yellow, but we know
thatıs a part of racing,² said Pruett, a two-time Trans-Am champion. ³But
they did the right thing because the track was a mess.

³Because we chose to run the hard tire compound on the left rear tire, I had
to drive a lot harder than Johnny,² explained Pruett, who leads in the
championship points standings. ³I had to work the car significantly harder.

³I had a great race going with Johnny; he was better in some places and I
was faster in other spots. But it worked out for us in the end.²

³We opted for the medium compound tires, so I was a little cautious with my
tires at the start,² said

Miller, who ranks second in the championship point standings behind his
teammate. ³All those cautions really hurt our racing strategy. Taking care
of the left rear tire doesnıt work if you run out of race.

³Itıs a shame we ended under caution,² continued Miller. ³I think weıd have
had something left for Scott with a couple more green laps. We had both
picked it up before that last caution. There was barely a car length
between us.

³We just ran out of time today. But finishing second isnıt a bad thing. We
still in the hunt for the championship and we didnıt want to take any
unnecessary chances,² concluded Miller.

Tomy Drissi, driving the No. 5 ³Stuck on You, the Movie² Jaguar XKR retired
early with electrical problems, finishing 17th. Paul Menard, piloting the
No. 3 Johns Manville/Menards Jaguar XKR, finished 11th, after running as
high as fourth, after being tagged by another competitor.

Round 9 of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup will be at the
Grand Prix of Denver, scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August
31st. The race will air on a tape-delayed basis on Monday, Sept. 1 at 1:30
p.m. on PEE Channel.
