Revolution Motorsports Qualifying Report
Revolution Motorsports Dominates Corvette Class at Road America
Hayner and Sak sweep the second row… best in class
Elkhart Lake, Wis. – Aug 23, 2003 – Once again, doing their best to
upset the Jaguar parade, Revolution Motorsports’ drivers, Stu Hayner
[#2 GMAC Commercial Finance/ Trenton Forging Corvette] and Bobby Sak
[#10 Revolution Motorsports Corvette], gave spectacular performances
putting their Corvettes in the third and fourth positions on the
starting grid for Sundays Trans-Am race here at Road America.
"We are getting absolutely everything out of this car," said Hayner.
"Believe me, we left nothing on the table. It appears all we can do is
find satisfaction in being first in class. The aero advantage the
Jaguars have enjoyed all season is simply magnified on this 4-mile
track. The good news is Johnny (Miller) is going to have his hands full
with Scott (Pruett) and vice versa. So, starting in third might have
its advantages. At least I'll have a good view."
"I think we've got a good racecar," Hayner continued. "One hot lap in
qualifying is one thing... 100 miles around this place is another. I'm
not sure what the early (10:45am) start will do for track conditions,
but car management will be crucial. We've talked about a strategy and
how hard we want to run early... but I'm sure once the flag drops, all
that will go out the window. The big thing will be taking care of the
car and being there at the end."
Bobby Sak echoed Stu’s philosophy.
“We’ll just have to be patient with this one. Like Stu said, if they
run hard at each other we can plan a strategy to be there at the end.
Fortunately, Stu and I are cooperative teammates (it should be noted,
Hayner and Sak actually used each other to draft for their qualifying
runs). Johnny and Scott are battling for the championship. So, I’m
guessing, unless they have team orders, all bets are off. We’ve got the
best seat in the house, that’s for sure.
