PRUETT OPTIMISTIC AFTER TOPPING SECOND ROUND CHARTS AT ROAD AMERICA
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. Although he didnıt back up his fast time earlier in the
day, Scott Pruett continued to hold court at the top rung of the Road
America speed ladder as he set the fastest time during second-round Trans-Am
Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup practice on Friday. Pruett, driver of
the No. 7 Jaguar R Performance XKR, set a 2:08.466-minute lap at the
4.048-mile road course under warm, sunny conditions.
³We had a good jump, but everyone is beginning to catch up now,² said
Pruett, who recorded a faster time than the Series race-lap record earlier
in the day in first-round practice. ³The other teams are figuring out the
track and finding balance. Our car rolled off the truck completely balanced.
³I am cautiously optimistic for qualifying tomorrow,² added the two-time
Series champion. ³But the other guys are knocking on the door. Weıll see
what we can do.²
Johnny Miller was second quick in the No. 64 Eaton Cutler-Hammer Jaguar XKR,
just a tick slower than Pruett at 2:08.584 minutes, ahead of Tomy Drissi
(No. 5 Stuck on You Jaguar XKR), Jorge Diaz, Jr. (No. 8 Don Q Rum Jaguar
XKR), and Michael Lewis (No. 12 Westward Tools/The Crank Jaguar XKR).
Qualifying for Sundayıs Trans-Am 100 is scheduled for tomorrow from 12:15
p.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a 40-minute practice at 5:35 p.m. The Trans-Am
