Orbit Racing - Road America test

to the top

Orbit Racing had a strong start to the American Le Mans Series race weekend
at Road America, topping the GT class during the test session on Thursday.
Marc Lieb - a rookie on the 4.048-mile road course - set a new class record in
two minutes 11.565 seconds, almost 2.3 seconds faster than the previous record
of 2:12.862. He and Peter Baron will share driving in the No. 43 YES Network
Porsche 911 GT3 RS this weekend.

"Today was the first time for me on the track. Yesterday, I walked around
with Peter. He showed me the track and some tricks here. It definitely
helped," Lieb said. "I love the track! It's so fluid, no real slow corners, up and
down, it's just fantastic. The car is pretty good, we have to improve a
little bit, but I'm very optimistic. Everything is good together - the car, the
driver, the track, the whole setup is good.  But I'm still not on the top level;
I can improve myself more."

bad axle

Joe and Jay Policastro returned to the No. 42 Classic Industries Porsche
after missing two races, but had only a few laps on track before the right rear
axle broke on the car. The team will replace it with a new race-ready axle for
practice and qualifying on Saturday.

"Jay and I have been chafing at the bit for the last couple of weeks. It's
been really busy at work, but it's great to back at the track," Joe Policastro
said.

"I haven't been here in almost two years, so I was getting familiar with the
track again. I was just starting to bring my times down, going through turn
four and into Canada Corner. All of a sudden, it felt like [the car] was free
rolling. I went to put the brakes on and made the turn, went up the hill and
the car wouldn't go. We broke an axle going up the hill."

guest driver

Leo Hindery, who usually drives the No. 43 YES Network Porsche, will join Joe
and Jay Policastro in the No. 42 Classic Industries Porsche this weekend.

"Marc Lieb is leading the Porsche Cup points right now, so we're hoping for
another podium with Marc and Peter. I'm very grateful to the Policastros for
inviting me to drive with them," Hindery said. "It's a compliment to Marc that
he can get into any car and show himself to be so quick. The Porsches are
wonderfully even as automobiles and race cars, and the difference is found in
the drivers. Marc is simply an exceptional driver."
