Polaris Frontier Snowmobiles Certified By EPA
Four-stroke Machines Reach Requirements Two Years Ahead of Mandate
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 22 -- Polaris Industries announced today that its 2004 model Frontier family of snowmobiles received certification for meeting Environmental Protection Agency emission requirements for 2006. Model year 2004 Frontiers will be the first snowmobiles certified to the EPA's more stringent requirements.
The four-stroke Frontier presents a cleaner, quieter alternative in snowmobiling -- without sacrificing the famous Polaris ride quality. The Frontier, introduced in 2001, features a block heater for easier cold-weather starting and closed-loop electronic fuel injection (EFI) induction to further reduce emissions.
"Environmental friendliness is a top priority for Polaris and that is underscored by how quickly we reached this distinction," said Tom Tiller, CEO, Polaris Industries. "We will continue to work proactively with government agencies to produce products which deliver both outstanding environmental performance and a terrific recreational experience."
