News from the United Steelworkers of America: Steelworkers Reach Tentative Agreement with Goodyear
CINCINNATI--Aug. 2, 20030, 2003--The United Steelworkers of America (USWA) announced today that it has reached a tentative agreement with Goodyear Tire and Rubber. The proposed master contract covers more than 19,000 members at 14 locations across the U.S.Details of the proposed contract will be provided to the entire membership and informational meetings will be conducted prior to ratification votes being conducted at each plant.
New contract talks began March 12, 2003 in Cincinnati. The current three-year contract was set to expire on April 19, 2003 at the nine Goodyear and two Dunlop plants and on July 6, 2003 at the three Kelly-Springfield facilities. Prior to the deadlines both parties entered into day-to-day contract extension agreements.
