U.S., Canada and German DaimlerChrysler Teens to Help Feed Detroit Needy at Focus: HOPE

  WHAT:    Youth Beyond Borders (YBB), a DaimlerChrysler exchange program,
           will help disadvantaged Detroiters at Focus: HOPE this week.  In
           addition to learning about the history of the United States, the
           students will package food for the homeless and learn the
           importance of community service.  YBB is an exchange program in
           which the children of DaimlerChrysler employees from the U.S.,
           Canada and Germany switch homelands and share cultures.  The YBB
           program includes a number of civic activities to emphasize the
           importance of community support and to help build greater
           understanding of different cultures.

  WHEN:    Wednesday, August 20, 2003 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.

  WHERE:   Focus: HOPE
           1400 Oakman Boulevard

           Directions: Take I-75 South to Davison.  Exit right and follow
           Davison to LaSalle.  Turn right on LaSalle.  Go seven blocks to
           the parking lot entrance (on left of Oakman Boulevard).

  DETAILS/OTHER:
           Forty-eight students from the U.S., Canada and Germany are
           participating in this three-week program.  Since its inception in
           1999, more than 270 youths have participated in the exchange.
           YBB students' ages range from 15-17 years.

           This year's U.S., Canadian and German exchange students will
           visit the Toledo North Assembly Plant -- home of Jeep Liberty;
           the Ontario Science Center; Niagara Falls (Ontario, Canada);
           Cedar Point Amusement Park (Sandusky, Ohio); Yarrow Lodge
           (Augusta, Mich.); and the Sears Tower in Chicago.

           U.S. and Canadian students visiting Germany, along with their
           German counterparts, will visit the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen
           Plant, Sanssouci Palace (Potsdam), Check Point Charlie, Potsdam
           Square (Berlin) and will participate in a Weser River Cruise in
           Bremen.

           During their stay in the U.S., the German students will reside in
           Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, Southfield, Milford, Macomb, Pontiac,
           Livonia, St. Clair, Troy, Berkley, Sterling Heights,
           Chesterfield, West Bloomfield, Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.
