Aura Systems Completes UL Safety Certification of AuraGen Mobile Power System
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 20, 2003 -- Aura Systems, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: AURA) today announced that the AuraGen Electronics Control Unit (ECU) has received approval for UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association) Listing under the UL 458 standard. UL 458 is the U.S. standard for Power Converters/Inverter Systems for Land Vehicles and Marine Crafts. The UL Listing of the AuraGen ECU is the final step in achieving UL safety compliance for the complete AuraGen Mobile Power System.
"This is an important milestone for Aura Systems," said Neal Meehan, Aura Chairman and CEO. "We believe that meeting the widely recognized UL and CSA standards help solidify our position as a leading manufacturer of mobile power systems. With these listings, we can expand our business into important market segments such as Recreational Vehicles (RVs) and Marine applications where UL Listing is an industry requirement. I want to recognize and thank the Aura employees who have worked tirelessly to make this critical UL Listing a reality."
The AuraGen Generator, another key system component, has previously received UL Recognition under UL 1004B, the U.S. standard for Electric Motors and Generators. For complete details on UL Listing/Recognition of AuraGen system components, please visit www.aurasystems.com .
"UL and CSA Listing clearly demonstrates our commitment to meet market requirements and ensure end-user safety," said Richard Ulinski, Aura VP of R&D. "The AuraGen already safely meets the mobile power needs of a wide range of rugged, harsh environment applications, from battlefield operation to fire and natural disaster emergency response vehicles. Our goal is for all of our customers to purchase an AuraGen and operate it with the same ease and confidence they would have using any other product bearing the UL mark."
The AuraGen Mobile Power System produces up to 8,000 Watts of continuous, highly regulated, clean 120/240V AC, DC or AC/DC power for the industrial, commercial and defense mobile power markets. Key system components include the AuraGen induction Generator that uses the rotational energy of a vehicles engine to produce commercial grade AC power. The electrical signal is routed to the system's microprocessor controlled Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that regulates the signal to provide stable AC and DC power from engine idle to redline conditions. When the vehicle's engine is turned off, the optional Inverter Charger System (ICS) continues to provide AC power from a battery pack, which is automatically recharged whenever the vehicle's engine is running.
