ArvinMeritor Expands Commercial Vehicle Systems Executive Position
TROY, Mich., Aug. 19, 2003 -- ArvinMeritor, Inc. announced that it expanded the leadership role and responsibilities of Sergio Carvalho, vice president and general manager of Suspension Systems, Trailer Products and Ride Control for the company's Commercial Vehicle Systems (CVS) business group. Carvalho will now also oversee and manage Worldwide Braking Systems for the group. He will continue to report to Tom Gosnell, president of CVS.
In his new position, Carvalho will manage the entire braking systems business, including engineering, product development, strategic planning, joint ventures, sales growth, and profit and loss (P&L).

Carvalho began his career at ArvinMeritor while still in college. He has 28 years of experience with the company, serving the first 14 years solely in South American operations. He has held various positions, both in South America and the United States, in product engineering, marketing, sales and service, and local site management. His breadth of product knowledge includes axles, brakes, suspensions, shock absorbers and special purpose gearboxes. Fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, Carvalho holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Sao Paulo State University in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He and his family currently reside in Oakland Township, Mich.
