DaimlerChrysler Canada Contributes to Ontario Energy Conservation

ONTARIO, Canada, Aug. 17, 2003 -- DaimlerChrysler Canada will meet Premier Eves' request of industrial energy users to voluntarily reduce consumption by 50% for Monday, August 18.

In an effort to conserve energy and contribute to the overall stability of Ontario's energy supply, DaimlerChrysler Canada will eliminate non-essential lighting and electrical use at all of its facilities across the province. Additionally, the Windsor Assembly Plant will not operate, the Etobicoke Casting Plant will operate at 50% capacity and, the Automotive Research and Development Centre in Windsor will idle two major research labs. The Brampton Assembly and Ajax Trim Plants will resume regular production schedules and all non-manufacturing facilities will be operational.

The company will continue to monitor Ontario's energy supply situation and make operational decisions on a day-to-day basis.
