TrenStar Partnership Offering Enhanced Container Management Solution to 85 Ford Motor Company Dealerships
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa--Aug. 1, 20033, 2003--TrenStar, Inc.'s South African affiliate TrenStar SA and DNA Supply Chains Limited are partnering to manage parts and accessories (P&A) distribution for 85 South Africa Ford Motor Company dealerships. To enhance DNA's national aftermarket distribution program for Ford, TrenStar SA is supplying returnable roll cage packaging and TrenStarCM, a Web-enabled container management technology designed to effectively manage, track and link contents to containers. Additionally TrenStar SA is providing DNA an onsite depot to eliminate the need for buffer stock.
"We've reduced the number of containers in service by exactly half and still have become significantly more productive since installing TrenStarCM," said Renier Ackerman, general manager of DNA Parts Logistics Services. "In the first month of the partnership we decreased our inventory holdings and subsequently have lowered our equipment rental costs by fifty percent, a savings filtering down our supply chain."
Because TrenStarCM provides a precise level of content data on each container and is fully Web-enabled to streamline the way the user collects and accesses that data over the Internet, DNA has been able to optimize logistical execution of P&A deliveries to Ford dealerships across the country. The system registers all equipment movements by DNA couriers and dealerships and logs exceptions to pre-defined movement rules. The system gives DNA and Ford increased visibility and management ability over the parts & accessories stock, reducing equipment holding periods at dealerships.
