THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn.--Aug. 1, 20033, 2003--Arctic Cat Inc. today announced that its board of directors elected chief executive officer Christopher A. Twomey to the position of chairman of the board, effective immediately. Twomey succeeds William J. Ness, who retired as board chair and now serves as vice chairman of the board. In addition, the board elected Kenneth J. Roering as lead director.

"I've been honored to serve as chairman for the past 20 years and to participate in Arctic Cat's growth," said Ness. "Chris has done an outstanding job during his tenure as chief executive, and his leadership as chairman of the board will serve the company well. I look forward to continuing to work together."

Twomey became Arctic Cat's president and CEO in 1986. During that time, the company's annual revenues have grown from $25.5 million to $577 million in fiscal 2003.

"I appreciate Bill's contributions and insight over the years, and am grateful for the board's confidence," said Twomey. "I am excited by our opportunities to further extend our technology leadership position and expand our market share in the all-terrain vehicle and snowmobile markets."
