Exide Technologies Introduces Improved Design Deep-Cycle Batteries
PRINCETON, N.J., Aug. 12, 2003 -- Exide Technologies, (BULLETIN BOARD: EXDTQ) (www.exide.com), a global leader in stored electrical-energy solutions, has introduced the DETA/TUDOR FF line, a new line of flooded, block technology deep-cycle batteries for motive power applications.
The new DETA/TUDOR FF line, offered by the Exide Technologies Industrial Energy Business Group, will be manufactured in the company's facility in La Cartuja, Spain. The facility has been designated as the company's global center of production for flooded block technology Industrial Energy products. La Cartuja recently achieved Bronze certification, the second of five levels in EXCELL, Exide's Customer-Focused Lean Leadership System. Achieving Bronze requires meeting lean standards in 60 categories, from the factory floor to human resources. One of the more challenging standards is implementing a functional pull system across a primary finished goods family.
The new DETA/TUDOR FF product line features three different configurations -- two six-volt batteries ranging from 180 amp hours to 285 amp hours, and one 12-volt battery with 85 amp hours. All three offer grid plates, which deliver high power performance at good value.
The new designs also offer better capacity and cycle life than batteries of standard design. The batteries are designated for industrial use mainly in golf carts, and in electric lift trucks, floor sweepers and scrubbers, automatic guided vehicles, maintenance lifts, personnel carriers and mine vehicles.
"Exide is continuously becoming more successful by implementing proven lean manufacturing practices that drive efficiency, waste elimination and overall quality improvements," said Neil Bright, President of the Exide Technologies Industrial Energy Business Group. "This new DETA/TUDOR product line produced in La Cartuja illustrates our commitment to achieving world- class products and services that make our customers successful."
