Delphi and XM Radio Introduce Roady
The first complete satellite radio system for under $120
TROY, Mich. and WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 -- Delphi Product & Service Solutions, part of Delphi Corporation , and XM Satellite Radio , America's leading satellite radio provider, will launch their newest radio product for the vehicle, the Delphi XM Roady, in September. The Delphi XM Roady is the first complete satellite radio system for the vehicle for under $120.00 in one simple, easy-to-install package.
"We are excited to expand our product portfolio with XM Satellite Radio," said Francisco A. (Frank) Ordonez, president, Delphi Product & Service Solutions and vice president, Delphi Corporation. "This product will continue to grow on our success in satellite audio with the SKYFi."
A unique feature of the Delphi XM Roady is the ability to customize the Delphi receiver with seven different color displays and three interchangeable faceplates. The sleek, pocket-sized Roady receiver connects directly into the vehicle stereo system. The Roady also comes with the new ultra-thin XM Micro Antenna, the smallest satellite-radio antenna on the market. The unit has a scroll wheel that allows immediate access to adjacent channels, ten direct- entry buttons, and capability for 30 preset channels.
The Roady has a display screen with options to show the name of the artist, song and channel currently playing on XM Radio. The unit has a special feature called TuneSelect(TM) that remembers songs by artists that you hear on XM and alerts you when they appear on another channel.
"The Delphi XM Roady, designed to attract younger consumers, delivers XM Satellite Radio in a compact, attractive package at a very appealing price," said Hugh Panero, XM Satellite Radio president and CEO. "The $120 MSRP for this all-in-one system will make XM Radio very affordable for an even broader customer base. Whether you're taking a morning drive or a cross-country road trip, the Roady will offer a terrific way to listen to XM Radio on the road."
Weighing just five ounces, the Roady is nearly 40 percent smaller than previous portable models. Roady's small size makes it easy to integrate into the vehicle's control panel with a wide range of placement options.
With Roady on board, drivers can tune into XM Radio's 70 music channels and 30 channels of premiere sports, news, comedy and other entertainment options. XM Radio subscribers pay only $9.99 a month for the enormous range of choices, crystal-clear sound, and coast-to-coast signal that XM delivers.
The Roady receiver package includes the XM Micro Antenna, mounting accessories and a cassette adaptor so that it can easily move from vehicle to vehicle. Later this year, Roady will also be available with a wireless FM modulator to accommodate any vehicle's stereo system with or without a cassette player. Retailers should contact their Delphi representative to order Roady, a terrific solution for the vehicle at an affordable price.
Delphi also manufactures the critically acclaimed Delphi XM SKYFi receiver, the best-selling product in the industry, for use in the home, vehicle or with the SKYFi Audio System boombox. With Roady at $119.99 and the SKYFI systems starting at $199.99, Delphi and XM have both the smallest and the most feature-rich assortment of products in the industry, along with the most market competitive price today when combining subscription and hardware costs. To date, Delphi has sold in excess of 350,000 SKYFi receivers to the retail market.
