Reynolds and Reynolds' Networkcar(TM) Receives R&D Magazine's Prestigious Top 100 Award

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 11, 2003 -- Networkcar(TM), a Reynolds and Reynolds company , announced today that its telematics system has been selected by an independent judging panel and the editors of R&D Magazine as one of the 100 most technologically significant products introduced in 2002.

Winners of this prestigious award are chosen each year by a panel of more than 70 industry experts. They identify the 100 most technologically significant products and processes introduced during the previous year. The sole criterion for receiving the award is demonstrable "technological significance." Called "The Oscars of Invention" and the "Nobel Prizes of Applied Research," these prestigious awards have been presented annually by R&D Magazine for the past 41 years.

In years past, the R&D 100 Awards have recognized many products that later became household names, including the automated teller machine (1973), the halogen lamp (1974), the fax machine (1975), the liquid crystal display (1980), the printer (1986), and HDTV (1998).

"This award is reaffirmation of the ingenuity of our engineers, our product's ubiquitous appeal and its practical benefits for car owners," said Networkcar president Dave Dutch. "Our goal continues to be a singular focus on the needs of our customers. We want to make it easier for them to maintain, operate and protect their cars."

Networkcar's pragmatic telematics system collects and organizes detailed automotive information directly from a vehicle's engine computer and location- based information from a global positioning system (GPS) device. Information is transmitted wirelessly to an information center where it is made available to car owners, auto dealerships and fleets in the form of immediate e-mail alerts, summary e-mail reports or easy-to-read Web pages. Networkcar's system is currently being used by California drivers in a voluntary emissions inspection program that allows drivers to receive a remote smog check. Networkcar's technology is compatible with virtually all light and medium-duty vehicles manufactured since 1996.
