Fleetwood RV Continues to Gain Motor Home Market Share as 2004 Products are Launched

RIVERSIDE, Calif., Aug. 11, 2003 -- Fleetwood RV, the nation's leader in recreational vehicle sales, continues to gain market share as it launches several new or completely refreshed products. According to Statistical Surveys Inc., as of mid-year, motor home industry sales are up 8.2 percent (year-to-date unit sales January through June 2003). Fleetwood is out-pacing the industry with a 12.8 percent increase in unit sales over the first half of last year. This equates to a gain of 4.3% motor home market share year-to-date for Fleetwood RV.

Ed Caudill, President and CEO of Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. said, "It's an exciting time to be in the market for a Fleetwood RV product. Our new product development teams have done a great job of encouraging and listening to our customer's feedback in order to design customer-driven innovations into our new products." Caudill continued, "Since July we have launched the all- new American Coach luxury diesel line-up including Eagle and Tradition featuring the exclusive Liberty chassis. The all-new Pace Arrow will be available in late September with some very exciting customer-driven changes and enhancements. The Flair and Storm are now being built on the Power Platform, they have a dramatic new look and are available with a triple slide, which is rare for this price point. The brand new Gearbox LSV (Lifestyle Support Vehicle) will launch in September and will put Fleetwood in front of this important emerging category just in time for the big ATV and off-road sporting season that begins in the fall."

Caudill continues, "It's obvious we've been busy and the mid-year market share numbers prove that people like what they are seeing. Our Discovery brand continues to be the number one selling diesel motor home on the market with a 30.2 percent increase in unit sales mid-year 2003 over the same period last year. And the Revolution and Excursion continue to gain momentum with a unit increase of 120 percent mid-year 2003 over the first half of last year for Revolution and a 98.8 percent increase in unit sales for Excursion."

Frank DeGelas, President of Mike Thompson's RV Super Stores in Southern California, and a member of Fleetwood's Dealer Council, said, "Fleetwood's new products have been very well received by our customers. The all-new American Eagle arrived on our lots last week and the salespeople went nuts. We can hardly wait for the new Gearbox LSV to arrive in September. We expect the Gearbox to take the 'toyhauler' market to a new level of convenience, style and functionality. Fleetwood has not only rebounded, right now they are really on a roll as they continue to launch innovative, new products to the marketplace."
