Johnny Miller Qualifies Second at Trios Rivieres

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 2, 2003

Trois- Rieveres, Quebec – Johnny Miller, driver of the number 64 Eaton Cutler-Hamer Jaguar XKR, will start second for the Trois-Rieveres round of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoddrich Cup. Miller will make his fifth start at the event, looking to avenge the misfourtune of the 2002 race, where when while running second the team experienced a mechanical malfunction. Johnny’s best finish came in 1999, finishing third.

Miller cuurently ranks second in the points standings to team mate Scott Pruett. In 2003, the #64 Jaguar has one win coming at Lime Rock and three additional top-three finishes. Johnny is no stranger to the podium in 2003 and looks to continue the pace.

The Rocketsports Racing team made a setup change to the Eaton Cutler-Hamer Jaguar following the first practice session. The adjustments allowed Miller to improve on his time. "This is a big improvement over the first session and we still have a really loose car even on stickers (tires). I was able to manage a couple of laps by moving the sway bars during the lap and got a good run. I went back out and tried to get better, but I’d already taken the good out of the tires. I certainly didn’t want to take a chance and wreck it. So, second is just fine," said Miller of his qualifying efforts.

For the race, Miller knows he will have to find his way past points leader and Rocketsports team mate Scott Pruett. "We’re not far off the pole time. We just couldn’t catch Scott (Pruett), so we’ll have to race him tomorrow," commented Johnny.

"The confidence deal I have is the car is not perfect yet, and we’re pretty quick. We’ll get our car a little quicker, go better, and win the race. We’ll save the tires, save the brakes, and be there at the end to contend for the win," concluded Miller.
