REILLY AUTO PARTS JR. DRAG RACING LEAGUE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS

DENVER AUGUST 1, 2003- After several days of preparation by racers and their families from NHRA> '> s South Central, West Central, Northwest and Pacific divisions, the O> '> Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals completed the first round of eliminations today in its eight classes. Some of the first round winners included last year> '> s NHRA O> '> Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals Champions Jordan Fojt of Baytown, Texas, Benjamin Hilton of Vancouver, Wash., and Jacy Rae Glover of Norman, Okla. Defending champ Bobby Polson of Derby, Kan., also advanced. Polson defeated two-time Western Conference Finals Champion Mallori Mc Cullar of Mc Alester, Okla., in the opening round. Some of those upset in the first round included 2002 O> '> Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals Champions Cameron Ferre of Huntington Beach, Calif., Taylor Mc Millen of Mequite,Texas, David Thompson of La Mirada, Calif., and Kris Whitfield of Littleton, Colo. In addition to running eliminations, many of the participants and their families found time between rounds to visit the Motivational Tubing Fun Zone and JR Race Cars Manufactures Mid-Way. After racing was completed for the day, racers and their families then made their way over to the Bandimere Speedway barbecue to fill up with hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream and some cool drinks. Racers and their families then moved into the grandstands to watch the presentation of the special awards for Best Appearing Car, Best Engineered Car, Best Appearing Crew, as well as the awards for best reaction time and closest to dial.
